Homemade lemonade is a classic thirst quencher that never becomes outdated and is a favourite of kids and adults alike. Cool down and refresh after a big trek around the Watagans, a bike ride or an afternoon of fishing and kayaking. This good old fashioned recipe we discovered on chef savvy is also the perfect basket filler for a family picnic and couldn’t get much easier using only three ingredients.

What you’ll need:

  • 4 cups water
  • ¾ cups sugar
  • ½ cup fresh squeezed lemon juice


  1. Start by adding water and sugar to a medium saucepan and heating on high heat. Boil until sugar has fully dissolved stirring continuously. It typically takes about 2 minutes to dissolve. Take off the heat and place in the refrigerator until cool.
  2. While cooling, juice the lemons. If desired, you can strain the resulting juice through a fine strainer to remove pulp.
  3. Combine simple syrup, and lemon juice in a large serving pitcher with ice.

As for the garnish be creative. Add some fresh mint, strawberries, blueberries, or your favourite fruit.
