The days are still long and warm, which means it’s time to get outside and have some fun! Giant bubbles are addicting to young and old! Make the biggest and best bubbles in the neighbourhood with this great recipe we discovered on Happy Hooligans.

What you will need:

  • 6 cups water (distilled is best but tap water is fine)
  • 1/2 cup dish washings detergent
  • 1/2 cup corn starch
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp glycerine
  • 2 drinking straws
  • yarn (6 to 8 times longer than the length of one straw)

  1. Dissolve the corn starch in a bucket of water, stirring really well. Then gently stir in the remaining ingredients. Avoid creating a lot of froth or bubbles.
  2. Allow your mixture to sit for at least an hour, stirring occasionally if you see the corn starch settling to the bottom.
  3. To make the bubble wand, thread the yarn through the straws and tie a knot.
  4. Now you are ready to make giant bubbles outside. Submerge your wand in the bucket then move the wand so the air goes through the bubble solution and yarn.

The first bubbles may pop immediately but the more you play with the mixture, the silkier it gets and the bigger your bubbles get.
