Venture beyond Watagan Park’s forest scenery and enjoy some aquatic adventures along the coast.


Take the family for an offshore adventure with CoastXP. This boating experience guides you along the beautiful Hunter coastline to enjoy gorgeous scenery and greet a mix of aquatic friends, including dolphins, seabirds, turtles and other marine life. The Adventure Tour also takes you past some of Newcastle’s iconic spots, including the Bogey Hole, Glenrock Lagoon and Redhead Shark Watchtower.

Belmont Baths

Lake Macquarie City Council is at work revamping the baths at Belmont, and they’ll be ready for you to enjoy in late December. Belmont Baths will have a 70m jetty and 45m-wide swimming enclosure, along with an accessible ramp. There will also be an amenities block installed early next year.

Speers Point Swim Centre

Speers Point Swim Centre has had a much-needed refurbishment, and just in time for the summer holidays! The centre now has a solar heating system for their 50m and 25m pools so the temperature can be kept at a soothing 27 degrees celsius. Start training
your kids for the Olympics now with the ‘Swim with the Stars’ clinic, featuring such Olympic medallists as James Magnussen, Bradley Woodward and Matt Wilson.

Caves Beach

Patrolled during the summer, Caves Beach is best known for its flat beach, tranquil waves and magical sea caves at the southern end of the beach, which can be explored at low tide. With barbecue facilities, picnic areas, public amenities and a kiosk, Caves Beach, located at Caves Beach Road, is a great family day out for all.

JetBuzz Watersports

This one is for the thrill seekers! JetBuzz Watersports at Raffertys Resort offers jet boating, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing boat hire, charters and loads of adventurous water activities. Step outside your comfort zone and get your adrenaline pumping on the open sea.

Vera’s Water Garden

Head to the foreshore next to Memorial Park at The Entrance and you will find a delightful water park for your little ones. Kids can run through water sprays, climb over brightly-coloured fountains or dip their feet into the wading pool, while parents can take advantage of the free Wifi and ample seating around the play area.
