If you’re new to the Vermont community, why not sign the kids up to a local sporting team. It gives them a great opportunity to make new friends but more importantly keeps them active and healthy. Here are just a few local selections to get you thinking.

Vines Pony Club

With more than 500 pony club members throughout the Hawkesbury region, it’s certainly a popular way to enjoy the beautiful bush trails and compete at a high level. Autumn is a busy time for the Vines Pony Club in Oakville, as they compete in many shows and events around the region and state. Every first and third   Sunday they hold a cross-country jump, and visitors are always welcome to watch.

The club has 45 children locally, and is one of the only clubs to have an exchange program. Last December, four girls travelled to New Zealand to compete in a gymkhana with the Gisborne Pony Club. Email carolinedobson04@hotmail.com or phone 0413 732 676 to find out more.

The soccer season is soon underway. Vermont is a proud sponsor of the Pitt Town Pirates, a growing club with over 300 players and a grand final championship team in the Under 16s. Boys and girls are welcome to join – email contact@pittownsoccer.asn.au or phone 0411 695 272 for details.

Pitt Town Oaskville Netball Club

With three premiership-winning teams in 2013, Pitt Town Oakville Netball Club is always interested in attracting new players of all ages (6 to 17) and abilities. Email ptonc@bigpond.com or phone 0421 323 195 for more information.
