Art lovers, mark your diaries.

The Hawkesbury Artists and Artisans Trail is hosting its annual Open Studio Weekends on 22–23 and 29–30 August, inviting the public to meet local artists and artisans face to face, as well as to witness firsthand how they create their work in their studios.

A non-profit organisation, the Hawkesbury Artists and Artisans Trail promotes local artists and artisans, whether established or emerging. Its members’ studios are scattered throughout the Hawkesbury area, and they will all throw open their doors to the public over the two Open Weekends.

You can expect a huge range of art and craftsmanship, including painting, glass and ceramics. Kids and grown-up art lovers and craft enthusiasts alike will be entranced as they watch the artists and artisans at work.

“The Open Weekend is a great family event,” says Leanne Jones, one of the participating Trail artists. “I usually have a table with paper and pencils for the kids. It’s amazing to see children enjoying the experience of visiting an artist’s studio and they actually do look at the paintings.”

On the day, studio-hopping visitors will be able to buy art directly from its creator.
