It’s been more than 20 years since local butcher Martin Sharp, known locally as ‘Sharpy’, opened Pitt Town Quality Meats.

He sources most of his meat from local suppliers, and smokes ham and makes small goods in the shop.

If you’re looking for ideas to feed a crowd as the weather warms up – maybe for a long, lazy spring weekend lunch – Sharpy says you can’t go past lamb.

“Lamb is at its best in spring. Legs, chops, cutlets – they’re all beautiful. I like to do a butterflied leg of lamb with a mint and rosemary rub on the barbecue. Even just with salt and pepper, and some mint jelly – delicious!”

And if you’re already thinking about Christmas lunch, Sharpy’s known for his incredible smoked hams. He’ll even glaze one for you, and you can put in your order now.

You’ll find Sharpy at Pitt Town Quality Meats from 7.30am Monday-Saturday, call 02 4572 3725
