Johnson Property Group today received approval to develop a world-class Tourist Precinct within its $388 million masterplanned marina community, Trinity Point overlooking Barden’s Bay in Lake Macquarie.

Johnson Property Group received approval from the NSW Planning Assessment Commission to modify its earlier approved Masterplan Concept to incorporate a 5 Star hotel/commercial precinct and an apartment precinct which includes short stay and residential apartments.

Johnson Property Group CEO Keith Johnson in receiving the approval said the company was delighted to now move ahead with the development of a truly world-class tourist precinct for the Lake Macquarie region.

“This will be a key economic driver for the local community and a major new tourist destination for New South Wales,” Mr Johnson said

“The NSW Planning Assessment Commission today has approved a Concept Plan modification submitted by Johnson Property Group which involves the modification of our original masterplan concept to include a new Tourist Precinct.”

The Hotel/Commercial Precinct is proposed to comprise:

“Further to this, indirect employment will be significant for the supply of services to the Hotel and hospitality elements as well as the vessels operating from the marina,” Mr Johnson said.

The company received DA approval to build the first 94 berths of a proposed 188-berth marina as part of the masterplanned community earlier in June last year, to be known as Trinity Point Marina.

Trinity Point is a $388 million masterplanned project which spans 23 hectares and is located in Lake Macquarie approximately an hour and a half from Sydney and 30 minutes from Newcastle.

Upon completion, Trinity Point is planned to include:

Trinity Point ambassador Jennifer Hawkins

Former Miss Universe, model and entrepreneur, Jennifer Hawkins is a brand ambassador of Trinity Point, being a local girl from Holmesville near Newcastle and having spent many family holidays in Lake Macquarie.

Ms Hawkins said today’s announcement by the Premier marks a significant milestone for Johnson Property Group in its ambitions to deliver a truly world-class and tourist destination for New South Wales.

“I wholehearted congratulate Keith and Johnson Property Group and am genuinely excited to see the next stages of this remarkable project unfold,” Ms Hawkins said.

First land release

Johnson Property Group will announce the first release of land lots within Trinity Point in late November which are expected to sell fast with the precinct set to become one of the most exclusive lifestyle and recreational destinations in NSW.

Mr Johnson said already comparisons are being made between Trinity Point and the likes of Qualia on Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays or Port Douglas with the precinct’s state-of-the-art marina facilities.

Located in Lake Macquarie, Trinity Point is 88 minutes’ drive north of Sydney and 30 minutes’ drive south of Newcastle. Trinity Point is situated within the township of Morriset Park, 12 minutes off the M1 Pacific Motorway overlooking Barden’s Bay and the wider Lake Macquarie. Trinity Point is accessed by car and boat.

Covering an area of 110 square kilometres and twice the size of Sydney Harbour, Lake Macquarie is Australia’s largest coastal salt water lake and the largest permanent salt water lake in the southern hemisphere.

Construction is expected to commence for stage one of the marina in early 2016.
